Government Provides Relief in Petrol and but Increases Diesel Price in Pakistan for July 28, 2026
Petrol users receive a small relief but diesel prices continue to climb, effecting the economy countrywide.
The Government of Pakistan has decreased the price of petrol by Rs. 1, making the price Rs. 334.18 and increased diesel to Rs. 386.83, with an increase of Rs. 3.37 for July 28, 2026, providing relief to the ever-increasing prices of fuel. Since last week, both petrol and diesel have seen a continuous price increase, but now finally, the Ministry of Petroleum has announced a relief, albeit it is small; a price decrease is always better than a price increase.

The last week was a pretty active week for petroleum prices. It was the first week when the Government of Pakistan started revising petroleum prices daily. The petrol price started at Rs. 316, but at the end of the week, it was Rs. 335.18 with an increase of Rs. 19.18 throughout the week. Similarly, the price of diesel started at Rs. 354, but at the end of the week, it was sitting at Rs. 383.46 with a massive increase of Rs. 29.46 in just a week.

The new price for both petrol and diesel will remain live for July 28, 2026, in Pakistan, and will be revised again in 24-hours. The new prices will go live tonight at 12 AM. The price revisions are only restricted for Saturday and Sunday when the prices are not changed. Despite public criticism and pushback from petroleum dealers and associations, the government will continue with the daily price revisions for the forseeable future with updates coming later whether the policy will be changed back to monthly or weekly revisions like before.
