Toyota Raize / Daihatsu Rocky (First Generation) ADAS Guide – All Features Across All Trim Levels, How to Use, Turn Off
Learn which ADAS and Smart Assist features are available across every Toyota Raize and Daihatsu Rocky trim, how to use them, and which settings work best on Pakistani roads.
The Toyota Raize is currently in its first generation and is available in Pakistan as an imported JDM. These are easily available through local dealerships and are currently among the most sought-after compact crossovers in the country. It is a power-packed vehicle and comes with a wide range of packages depending on the features included in it. Its top variant, the Z package, comes with a full suite of Active Safety Features, but also ADAS.
While most people will argue that it has a Level 1 ADAS suite, certain features in the Z package make it the only trim that offers a complete highway driving assistance package. Since this vehicle is manufactured by Daihatsu, Toyota’s sub-brand, it has some additional models as well under Daihatsu branding called Rocky, and it comes with its own trims as well. While branding and trims are different, they are similar to their counterparts branded under Toyota Raize, which are more common in Pakistan. All ADAS and Active Safety Features in the Toyota Raize / Daihatsu Rocky (First Generation)
Toyota calls the ADAS Suite in the first-generation Toyota Raize / Daihatsu Rocky Smart Assist, and everything can be controlled through dedicated buttons either on the steering wheel or the lower-right section of the dashboard. Since both the Toyota Raize and Daihatsu Rocky are imported from Japan to Pakistan, they follow the standardized Japanese safety regulations. Features like parking sensors, front collision warning, and leading vehicle start notification are now part of the standard. Every vehicle after 2018 must have these features even in the base models. Raize X ‘S’, Rocky X, and Raize G use standard front cameras to watch the road ahead for danger.

These trims lack the steering torque and radar capabilities to drive themselves. The highest trims, which include Raize Z and Rocky G or Premium, qualify for Level 2 ADAS because they have dual camera modules that are required for steering and maintaining highway distances on their own. Unlike EVs or PHEVs, Daihatsu Rocky and Toyota Raize do not come with a massive screen in the middle of the dashboard where you can control all of these features. You must control them through the small dedicated ADAS menu, which is in the middle of the digital gauge cluster.

Traction Control and Vehicle Stability Control System
The Toyota Raize comes with a standard set of both Traction Control and Vehicle Stability Control System. Both of these are linked to the same button on the lower-right side of the dashboard. Both of these systems work together to prevent wheelspin and losing vehicle control under stressful or sudden steering.
Pressing its button once will turn off only the traction control, and long-pressing it for at least three seconds will turn off the VSC as well. If you turn off only traction control, once the vehicle gains enough speed, the VSC system will turn the traction control system back online. To turn off both, you must turn off the VSC system completely. When the vehicle is shut down and turned back on, both systems will be activated automatically.
Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) and Front Collision Warning System (FCW)
The AEB and FCW work in the Toyota Raize or Daihatsu Rocky by using the front-mounted cameras and using them to identify incoming hazards in the vehicle’s path. When the vehicle detects a potential collision from the front, it will not only notify you by playing a sound but also apply the brakes automatically to prevent it. To activate or deactivate this feature, you have to long-press the AEB and Front Collision Warning System button. When it is off, an icon will appear in the dashboard showing that the feature is currently off, and the sound or automatic braking will not be applied.
Erroneous Start Prevention
The Erroneous Start Prevention actively monitors and prevents the driver from accidentally launching forward or backward by slamming the accelerator by mistake. This system is always on and cannot be turned off. With this system active, if a driver accidentally presses the gas pedal, whether in first gear or in reverse from a standstill, and the vehicle detects an obstacle, it will quickly cut fuel supply to the engine. While this might bring the vehicle to a stop in most conditions, if the obstacle is too close, the damage to the vehicle will be greatly reduced.
In the Toyota Raize and Daihatsu Rocky, this system works in both ways, which means it not only prevents unintended backward movement, but it also prevents forward movement. For the front side, it uses dual cameras to detect walls or vehicles, and for the rear side, it relies on the ultrasonic parking sensors on the rear bumpers to detect walls or vehicles. One thing you should keep in mind is that this system cannot apply brakes automatically; rather, it cuts the fuel and ignores any acceleration coming from the pedal.
Lane Departure Warning (LDW) & Lane Keep Assist
The Lane Keep Assist is controlled by its dedicated button on the steering wheel of the Toyota Raize or Daihatsu Rocky. To turn it on or off, you simply need to press the button and the icon in the digital gauge cluster. When this is on, the vehicle will read the lane markings and try to keep the vehicle inside the lane. Toyota Raize or Daihatsu Rocky only apply a small steering correction to keep the vehicle inside the lane. The icon on the screen turns to solid green or blue to represent that the vehicle is inside the lane correctly. If the vehicle leaves the lane markings, it will play an automatic sound along with warning vibrations in the steering wheel and braking as well.
Sign Recognition / Notification
The Toyota Raize and Daihatsu Rocky are also capable of reading road signs and notifications on the road such as Stop signs or Speed Limits, and will display them for the driver. This feature cannot be turned off.
Leading Vehicle Start Notification
If you are parked at a red light and the vehicle in front of you moves, the Toyota Raize or Daihatsu Rocky will play a sound to notify you to move as well. The sound is played if the vehicle does not detect any input from the driver after the front vehicle leaves. This feature cannot be turned off.
Front and Rear Parking Sensors
All trims of Toyota Raize and Daihatsu Rocky apart from the base X and L trims come with two front and two rear parking sensors, which will play a sound if there is an obstacle near them. If the driver wants to turn them off, there is a dedicated button for them in the dashboard’s lower right section.


Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) + Vehicle-to-Vehicle Distance Setting
Adaptive Cruise Control is only available in the top trims of both Daihatsu Rocky and Toyota Raize. Its controls are found on the steering wheel, where the driver can turn it on, reset it, increase or decrease the selected speed, and turn it off as well. Apart from this, the driver can also select how much distance the vehicle keeps from the vehicle in front of it. There are three settings to choose from, and the vehicle will adjust the distance based on speed automatically. This feature has its own dedicated button on the steering wheel as well.
Lane Tracing Assist (LTA)
A lot of people confuse the Lane Tracing Assist with the Lane Departure Prevention, but these are different systems. The LDP is a digital system that is always on and serves as a warning. The Lane Tracing Assist is only activated when Cruise Control is active, and it will actively turn the vehicle in the lane. This is designed to keep driver fatigue low.

Adaptive High Beam System (AHS)
Toyota Raize can detect and selectively shade portions of the headlight beam to avoid dazzling oncoming traffic while maintaining maximum visibility. This feature cannot be turned off.
Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM)
This is an add-on feature only for the top trims. Vehicles equipped with the BSM will have radar sensors mounted near the rear bumper that monitor adjacent lanes, while warning indicators illuminate in the side mirrors. This feature is always on as well.
Panoramic View Monitor (360 Camera)
Another optional add-on for the top trims, this feature gives a 360 view of the vehicle by using cameras all along the vehicle’s sides on the screen inside the vehicle.

Despite its category and size, the first-gen Toyota Raize and Daihatsu Rocky come with an impressive list of Active Safety Features and ADAS features. However, the availability depends on the trim level. The full set of features is only available on the top trims, and even then, certain features are available as add-ons. The highest trims offer a level of driver assistance comparable to many newer compact SUVs currently available in Pakistan.
