Suzuki Discontinues Two Variants of Suzuki Cultus in Pakistan

Pak Suzuki slashes its 1000cc line-up, leaving the manual Cultus VXL as the sole surviving variant for local buyers.

Islamabad/Rawalpindi: Suzuki has officially streamlined its 1000cc passenger car lineup by discontinuing two prominent variants of the Suzuki Cultus: the base-tier VXR and the top-of-the-line VXL AGS in Pakistan. Effective immediately, official dealerships across the country have halted new bookings for both trims.

The decision was announced via an official circular issued by Pak Suzuki to its authorized dealership network, signaling the end of production for the VXR and AGS configurations. Moving forward, the manual Suzuki Cultus VXL stands as the only variant available for purchase. Motornama was able to independently verify the suspension of these bookings through direct correspondence with multiple Suzuki dealerships across Rawalpindi and Islamabad.

Escalating Prices and Evolution

The new generation of Suzuki Cultus was launched in Pakistan back in 2017, and it was available in two different trims, base VXR and VXL. The top trim VXL AGS was launched much later, in December 2017. The base VXR was launched at Rs. 1,250,000, and the VXL was launched with a price of Rs. 1,391,000. The AGS was launched at Rs. 1,528,000. At the time of their discontinuation, the VXR sat at Rs. 4,089,000, while the AGS was Rs. 4,591,460. It saw a massive increase in its price over the past few years.

Engine, Safety, and Feature Overview

The new-generation Suzuki Cultus features a 998cc 3-cylinder K-Series petrol engine that offers 67 hp and 90 Nm of torque at 3,500 RPM. It is coupled with a 5-speed manual gearbox, or the Auto-Gear Shift (AGS) for the AGS trim. It features a basic safety feature set with limited options like ABS brakes, dual front airbags, and an immobilizer key system. Inside, it offers an 8-inch touchscreen display with Bluetooth and screen mirroring capabilities, with a 4-speaker setup. It does not offer much on the outside apart from 14-inch alloy wheels and front fog lamps.

In Suzuki’s lineup, it was previously competing with the Wagon R in the 1000cc category; however, after Wagon R’s discontinuation, it was the only offering in Suzuki’s lineup catering to the 1000cc buyers. Currently, it sits between the lower 660cc Alto and the much more powerful 1.3L Suzuki Swift. The table below gives a brief comparison between the three variants.
